Can you believe it’s that time of year already? With the temperatures dropping more and more, we’re starting to pay further attention to the way we layer. Since we may not be spending as much time outside as we typically do, we are now more than ever treating the streets as our runways!

If you already have basic outerwear in your wardrobe, now might be the time to add a more trend-forward piece to your rotation. Top designers such as Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, and Isabel Marant have made a major case for leather trench coats, giving a timeless silhouette a new edge. A leather trench can be dressed down over jeans and a sweater or dressed up when we do finally have that opportunity again! Another material making its rounds in outerwear is shearling. All-over shearling is luxe and comfortable, and easily becomes the center of your outfit. If you’re not too enthused about the idea of stepping outside, wrap yourself up in a blanket coat for ultimate coziness. Look to the Fall/Winter 2020 runways of JW Anderson, Proenza Schouler, and Balmain for inspiration.

This year’s boot trends are all about staying stylish and practical. The equestrian-inspired riding boot got a sleek update and feels cool and modern when paired with unexpected pieces like dresses and slouchy trousers. For an ankle boot style with lots of stomp appeal, lug sole boots are the way to go. This chunky option is sensible in the snow and looks cool paired with just about any outfit. To really show them off, style with a skirt set. And as for the most unexpected of boot trends this year, rain boots and wellies have been taking over. Another functional option, rubber boots have stepped out as a trend to love.

The one cozy layering accessory we always seem to forget? Socks! Whether you’re lounging around the house or letting them peek out from under your boots, go for an option that makes you smile. Ditch the boring basics and try socks of all varieties. Designers have been loving stamping their logos on a pair of knee-highs, but you can also look for just about any pattern or a solid color that glitters. Besides treating yourself to a fun pair (or three or four) – bookmark these for gift ideas! I promise no one will feel like they’re receiving a last-minute, sad gift one they unwrap one of these adorable pairs. While we all prepare for the colder months, I hope you’re finding ways to wrap yourself in all things cozy – and I hope you treat yourself to a new piece for some added warmth!
